How much traffic Bluehost Cloud Sites can handle? How fast Bluehost’s Cloud sites platform is? These could be the questions that may have come to your mind. In this article we’ve tried to cover everything you should know about Cloud Sites before you actually buy it. So let’s startcloud sites review

What is Bluehost’s Cloud Sites?

Bluehost’s Cloud Sites is the newest, fastest, safest and simplest shared hosting platform. The hosting platform is scalable and you can add resources on demand. The platform is for everyone but it is more targeted towards non-tech-savvy people who want to harness full potential of cloud.

“Cloud” can be an obscure word in the web technology industry. In the simplest of terms, our version of the cloud refers to a network of resources (such as storage space, CPU power, and RAM access) that work together to store and run data. Instead of a customer’s information being served from a single server, their data is sourced across multiple servers.

Advantages of Cloud Sites over Traditional Web Hosting

Cloud hosting has numerous advantages over traditional web hosting. Some of them are.

Speed

The first major advantage of using cloud hosting solution is “the speed”. bluehost load time In cloud hosting the data is sourced across multiple server/drives, the load of running a website is shared across multiple servers/drives and your site load faster. In traditional web hosting the data is stored on a single machine and when all the websites request to fetch the data from the drive, the server resources distributed among the requests and your website load slow.

It is Safe

The cloud sites are safer than traditional hosting. Your data is mirrored across devices and when one server goes down, your website goes up from another server. This is managed automatically through Bluehost’s failover technology. bluehost failover technology

Simple Dashboard

For cloud sites, Bluehost has reinvented its dashboard. It is simpler than the previous dashboard. Using the dashboard you can easily see usage, page download speed, up-time, global reach etc. You can even add more resources to your server during traffic spikes. bluehost cloudsites dashboard

Highly Scalable

Unlike traditional hosting where scalibility is a big issue and your site goes down during those traffic spikes, Bluehost cloud sites gives you freedom to add resources  i.e CPU and RAM. From the dashboard itself you can monitor the resource usage and can add additional resources on the go. cloudsites scaling

Fully Managed

Cloud Sites comes fully managed, that means you need not to worry about the server. Just focus on your website and make it big and the rest will be managed by the Bluehost team.

Advanced Catching

Cloud Sites use advanced catching technology that makes your site faster from the very first day. Bluehost use customized NGINX/Varnish Caching configuration for cloud sites platform.

Cloud Sites Plans & Pricing

Bluehost set their cloud hosting pricing very aggressively. They’re also offering some very good discount for their new customer. Below are pricing & plans for cloud sites. cloud sites plans pricing As you can see above, cloud sites has 3 different plans i.e Starter, Performance & Business pro. As you can make out from the plans name itself, the starter plan is for someone who just want to host a single website with some moderate traffic. The starter plan comes with 100 GB of space, 2 GB of RAM & 2 Processors. It can handle moderate amount of traffic. The plan comes with a shared IP. If you’ve multiple websites and want to host them on a reliable server, Cloud Sites performance plan is the right fit for you. The Performance plan comes with 4 GB of RAM, 4 Processors & unlimited storage. The plan can handle good amount of traffic per day of you host only 2-3 websites to it. Although Bluehost support unlimited websites on this plan. The business pro plan is suitable for anyone who has high traffic websites and need more security. The business pro plan comes with 6 GB RAM, 6 Processors & unlimited storage. It comes with a dedicated IP, SSL Certificate & Site backup-restore facility. The best part of Cloud Sites platform is, you can add additional resources to any of the plan. For example, If your plan doesn’t come with dedicated IP, you can add the same by paying additional $49 per year. Similarly you can add any other resource by paying additional cost. One thing we didn’t like about the pricing at all is, you have to buy the hosting space for 3 years to get the best pricing. If you buy it for one year, you have to pay higher price.

Cloud Sites Performance Test

Cloud Sites is the newest web hosting platform by Bluehost. There are only handful of sites hosted on this platform as of now. Still we managed to test one server and few websites on it. We run speed test on it and found the server really fast. Below is the screenshot of the test we run Cloud Sites server. cloud sites performance We also did a reverse IP look up and found one website hosted on the cloud sites. We run a response time test on it and found cloud sites server respond very good to all requests from different parts of the world. Below is the screen shot of response time test we run… cloud sites response time test In above two tests, one thing is common. Bluehost’s cloud sites servers respond fast from requests comes from united states. It is pretty obvious as the servers are located in the US. From other parts of the world, the response time is not bad at all.

Trial & Money Back Guarantee

Directly Bluehost doesn’t offer any trial for its web hosting services but still you can try their services under their money back guarantee. Cloud Sites comes with a 30 days money back guarantee, that means of you didn’t like the product, you can refund it anytime and Bluehost will give a full refund for your web hosting services. If you refund after 30 days time, you get a refund on prorated basis. One important thing, if you register a free domain during the signup, the domain fee is non-refundable.

The Verdict: Should You Buy It?

Short answer: Yes. Long Answer: Cloud Sites comes with multiple features that otherwise is not available in traditional hosting. Scaling and Failover Technology makes it more reliable than any other hosting plan. We highly recommend that you should buy this if you’ve budget. Although it is recommended only for websites which has moderate or high traffic. Normal websites can be run fine on traditional hosting plans. Cloud Sites gives you more control over your hosting plan. If you’re looking for a hosting plan that don’t suck, go for Bluehost Cloud Sites.
